Space Shuttle Endeavour - final journey

If you're in LA this weekend, don't forget Endeavour hits the streets for a close-up and a final journey! The first, last and only time a space shuttle will travel through city streets.
The home stretch of Endeavour's final journey begins Oct. 12, when four computer-controlled transport vehicles will roll the shuttle out of its airport hangar. The orbiter is slated to arrive at the California Science Center the next day.
When and where you can #spottheshuttle you can find from this article!

Disneyland for Nerds - Caltech

With a little over 2000 students(undergrad and grad), Caltech took the number one spot in The World's Top Universities 2011 put out by Times Higher Education, a London magazine that tracks the higher ed market.

CalTech’s focus on science and engineering attracts some top students and professors. Its faculty has won 32 Nobel prizes.
The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) owned by NASA and operated as a division of Caltech through a contract between NASA and Caltech. In 2008, JPL spent over $1.6 billion on research and development and employed over 5,000 project-related and support employees. The JPL Director also serves as a Caltech Vice President and is responsible to the President of the Institute for the management of the Laboratory. via Wikipedia
Here are a few pics from Caltech campus, located in Pasadena.

Remember Moore's Law? In case you don't, here is a reminder: simplified version of this law states that processor speeds, or overall processing power for computers will double every two years. The term "Moore's law" was coined around 1970 by the Caltech professor, VLSI pioneer and entrepreneur Carver Mead , in reference to a statement by Gordon EMoore, the billionaire co-founder of Intel Corp. and a longtime supporter of Caltecha( he received a PhD in Chemistry and minor in Physics from Caltech in 1954)who gave the school two gifts totaling $600 million.

Windows 8 - my first incomplete feedback

A few weeks ago I bought a new desktop PC, a powerful one: CyberPowerPC. For a new computer I decided to install a new operating system. This is where DreamSpark for Academic Institutions (formerly MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) comes in handy.

I partitioned my hard drive, 'cause my PC came loaded with Windows 7 Home Edition. Downloaded and installed. Well, my first impression was that I have A Nokia Lumia on steroids!!! And I'm definitely not a Lumia fan. Everything is soooo integrated and synced. Your address book, SkyDrive data, photos, and even data within third-party applications can sync up to the cloud, and you can access them on any Windows 8 device. The address book also syncs with other services like Facebook and Twitter as well.  Too much, I would say.  But this new Windows  looks completely different from what Microsoft users are used to. It runs pretty smooth, I have to admit it! I just installed the new OS from Microsoft yesterday night and it was very late, so I didn't get a chance to play with it.
But I will do it, and maybe I'll come back with some feedback. Here is a screenshot from snapfiles.com(like I told you, too much integration for my taste, so a screenshot of my screen it's a lil' bit too personal)

Apple wins Lawsuit against Samsung and gets $1B over Pattern infringement!

Well at least justice is served! Just because Apple is a successful company, it doesn't mean they don't have rights! It's about time you can only copy a product so long! Maybe this will teach companies not to steal from other companies! Innovate don't imitate! And yes, APPLE BUILT THAT!
Fact:  Apple up $12 in After Hours Trading!

Apple prevails over Samsung in high-stakes patent trial, will get $1 billion

Free tethering on HTC Amaze 4G

A while ago, after I got my Amaze 4G cell, I tried to use the Bluetooth  HotSpot feature that comes with the phone. But...guess what? T-Mobile blocked the free access, so I was supposed to sign up for a special plan that would have cost me extra $14.99/month. Well, I already have unlimited data on my T-Mobile account so why would I wanna pay extra money just to share data between my devices? That's a no brainer :)
So my dear fellow HTC&T-Mobile &Amaze 4G users, I found An app and I tested it for the last few months. It works good. It's free and very easy to install. Ah and it's called FoxFi!
Look for it in Google Play!
It may work for multiple Android phones, but I wouldn't know for sure! And also I forgot to mention that my OS is updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. No rooting required!

Hope it helps!:)

NASA Google Doodle - August 6th 2012

London 2012 javelin Google Doodle a first! Though...look again! There you are, Curiosity! Way to go, Google and way to go NASA!
Find the difference!:)

Touchdown: Last night, NASA's Curiosity Landed on Mars!

Curiosity landed at 10:32 p.m. Aug. 5, PDT, (1:32 a.m. EDT, Aug. 6) near the foot of a mountain three miles (about five kilometers) tall inside Gale Crater, 96 miles (nearly 155 kilometers) 7in diameter. During a nearly two-year prime mission, the rover will investigate whether the region has ever offered conditions favorable for microbial life, including the chemical ingredients for life.
The mission is managed by JPL for NASA's Science Mission Directorate in Washington. The rover was designed, developed and assembled at JPL, a division of Caltech.

Apple Wins Patent Dispute, HTC Phones Banned From Store Shelves

"Apple spokeswoman Kristen Huguet reiterated an earlier statement, saying competitors should create their own technology."

AT&T Agrees to Drop Bid for T-Mobile

""Bernstein analyst Craig Moffett said the announcement was "a bit of an anticlimax."
"This is like receiving the divorce papers for a couple that's been separated for years," he said.""

Good. AT&T can suck it. Whatever the future holds for T-Mobile at this point might be uncertain, but whatever. For now I'm pretty freaking happy using their services. Seriously, I think my $49.99/mo plan, for pretty much unlimited everything and with a sane customer service system even, is great.

Hint: RIM is using JAVA from SUN. They're not infringing on Sun, they're using their tools. Android is using Dalvik, a clone of Java. The lawsuit is about Dalvik!!

The Lulz Boat- live on Twitter

What is Lulz? -  an offshoot of "LOL," webspeak for laughing out loud. Think of it as a substitute for "just for a laugh."
Who is Lulz?- They've breached or busted the websites of the CIA, PBS and the U.S. Senate, and launched at least part of an extended attack on Sony, whose PlayStation Network was brought to a grinding halt for the better part of a month. And, to hear them tell it, it's all for a laugh.
